Chicago Fire star playfully teases Chicago Med cast ahead of crossover

As fans of the One Chicago franchise eagerly await the much-anticipated crossover event, excitement is palpable.

This particular crossover has been in the making for six years, and it feels even more significant given the recent

challenges posed by the global pandemic. Interestingly, this upcoming storyline will touch on themes of a deadly

virus, reminiscent of the last three-part crossover event.

Scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, the event will break from tradition, kicking off with Chicago Fire instead of the usual Chicago Med. Following the fiery start, viewers can expect to see Chicago Med and Chicago PD take their turns in this riveting three-hour special.

Longtime Chicago Fire actor Joe Minoso is set to lead the charge during this crossover, having participated in nearly every previous event. His experience means he has had the opportunity to collaborate with many stars across the One Chicago universe, including Chicago Med standout Steven Weber. In a recent lighthearted interview with Screen Rant, Minoso jokingly poked fun at Weber, recalling his disappointment from their previous interaction during the 2019 crossover.

“I was so excited to work with Steven Weber, and then I did, and it was a real disappointment. He was just really, really hard to work with,” Minoso quipped, only to quickly reassure fans that it was all in jest. “That’s a joke,” he clarified with a laugh. “Please don’t take that seriously. I think at this point, with the exception of some of the newer people on Med who came in this season, I’ve had the pleasure of working with pretty much everybody on all three shows.”

Minoso remains just as enthusiastic about the crossover concept as he was during its inception. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in a franchise that fosters interconnectivity across shows. “The fact that we can talk about being in a universe that has three shows that interact with each other, and has been going on for over a decade seems like a miracle,” he noted. “And so just to be in that hemisphere is incredible.”

With both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med performing exceptionally well in ratings this season, the success of the franchise seems set to continue. If this trend persists, fans can look forward to many more crossovers in the future. As anticipation builds, viewers are ready to dive back into the One Chicago universe for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of television.
