Adele doesn’t know when she’ll perform again after tearful Vegas goodbye

Adele’s 100th and final show of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace ended in an emotional farewell on Saturday night, as the British superstar became visibly teary-eyed while expressing her gratitude and sadness. For two years, Adele had captivated audiences with her “Weekends with Adele” residency at the 4,000-seat venue, performing every weekend despite the toll it took on her emotionally. During her final performance, she opened up about how much she would miss the experience and her fans, admitting that she wasn’t sure when, or if, she would perform again anytime soon.

Her residency, initially slated to start in January 2022, had faced delays due to a COVID outbreak and issues with the production set, but when it finally began later that year, it became a major event in Las Vegas. Over the course of her performances, Adele made a point of interacting with her audience, including several heartwarming moments, such as when she teared up after seeing Celine Dion in the crowd. The two singers, who share mutual admiration, shared an emotional hug at the Colosseum Theatre, a venue that was originally built for Dion’s own 2003 residency.

However, Adele’s residency wasn’t without its controversies. At one point, she defended a fan who was told to sit down during one of her concerts, a moment that later went viral on social media. On another occasion, in June, Adele confronted an audience member who she thought had yelled “Pride sucks” during the show, though it was later revealed that the individual had actually said “work sucks” in reference to her comments about her own work life. Adele, known for her blunt and no-nonsense attitude, admitted that she was quick to become irritated in recent years, joking that she had become “old and grumpy.”

As her residency came to an end, Adele reflected on her desire to take a break from music, revealing earlier this year that she planned to step away from the spotlight after the final show. Her decision had been brewing for some time, as she admitted that her “tank was quite empty” and that she didn’t have any plans for new music. In an interview, she expressed her longing for a period of anonymity, sharing that she missed the days before fame took over her life. The fame aspect, she confessed, never felt normal to her, despite the success of her albums and the love her fans showed.

Looking ahead, Adele also revealed her plan for 2025, which includes pursuing an online English Literature degree. She had previously mentioned that, if not for her music career, she might have become an English Literature teacher. The extended break from music is something Adele has been longing for, and it’s clear that her time in Las Vegas has marked both an emotional and professional turning point in her life.
