Adele has officially wrapped up her two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, marking the end of her Weekends With Adele concert series. The 16-time Grammy winner, 36, bid an emotional farewell to her fans during her final performance on November 24, 2023.
In her heartfelt speech, Adele shared personal reflections on her journey, including her decision to do the residency instead of touring. Through tears, she explained that the residency allowed her to maintain a sense of normalcy for her 14-year-old son, Angelo. “I chose to do a residency maybe because I f—— hate touring,” Adele confessed. “But I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal. And I did do that. But I also wouldn’t change it for the world.” She expressed her love and gratitude to her son for his patience, acknowledging that it wasn’t always easy for him, as he couldn’t always accompany her.
Adele also took the time to express her love and appreciation for her partner, sports agent Rich Paul, with whom she has been publicly together since the summer of 2021. Referring to him as her “husband,” she thanked him for being a constant source of support, particularly during moments of exhaustion and emotional drain. “Thank you for always bigging me up and making me feel like I could do whatever I wanted to do,” she said.
Despite the emotional weight of closing this chapter, Adele revealed that she had already found closure when legendary singer Celine Dion attended her show. Celine’s presence in the audience on October 26, 2023, deeply moved Adele, who recalled getting teary-eyed after their emotional embrace. “I cried for a whole week,” Adele admitted. “It was just such a full-circle moment for me. Because that’s the only reason I ever wanted to be in here.”
The final performance was bittersweet for Adele as she shared her sadness over leaving the residency behind. “I will miss you terribly,” she said to the audience. Although she wasn’t sure when she would perform again, Adele made it clear that she wasn’t planning any immediate future projects. “I’m not doing anything else. I’m actually s—— myself about what I am going to do. I don’t have any f—— plans,” she confessed. However, she reassured fans that she would return to the stage at some point, even if she didn’t know exactly when. “Of course, I’ll be back. The only thing I’m good at is singing and things like that,” she said, though she expressed uncertainty about her next steps.
Adele’s Vegas residency began in November 2022 and came to a close with her 100th Weekends With Adele performance. Throughout the residency, she reflected on the unique nature of performing in Las Vegas, saying it was exactly what she needed for this season of her life. Fans had been aware that Adele was planning to take a break from performing after the residency’s conclusion, and her emotional farewell marked the end of this significant chapter.
