Career on the Line: Chief Pascal Faces Fallout in Explosive ‘Chicago Fire’ Episode

Dom Pascal’s (Dermot Mulroney) world has not been the same since Monica Pascal (KaDee Strickland) died in an unfortunate road accident. The death of his wife turned Dom’s world upside down, and the problem was that there was no one to blame for it. After spending a lot of time trying to find the evidence to implicate the other driver involved in the accident, it seemed like Pascal had accepted the reality of the situation and moved on. However, a sneak peek of Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 21, “The Bad Guy,” hints that nothing was as resolved as everyone believed. In the episode airing next Wednesday, May 14, Severide (Taylor Kinney) investigates a car fire and uncovers surprising evidence. Meanwhile, Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) strengthens her bond with Natalie during a road trip, and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) receives a career opportunity after being featured in a local newspaper.

Chicago Fire established in the Season 13 premiere that Monica was one of the biggest things in Dom’s life. Part of why he moved to Chicago from Miami was to be closer to her and rekindle their relationship. When someone’s purpose is snatched away from them in such a manner, life lacks direction, and they’re left treading water. When 51 responded to an emergency in the video below, they made a startling discovery. The victim is the driver “who killed [the] chief’s wife.” That’s a huge coincidence, and when Severide does some inspections, the coincidence becomes less so. “There’s a hole in the fuel line,” and more discoveries implicate the department. Van Meter (Tim Hopper) thinks someone in the department messed with the vehicle, but it’s unclear who it was. Could it be Pascal?

‘Chicago Fire’ Will Be Back This Fall

This development teases a major shift in Firehouse 51. If Pascal is implicated in the attempted murder, the firehouse is once again left without a chief, allowing Herrmann (David Eigenbarg) to step up. However, recent CFD developments hint at a change in the station’s composition as budget cuts shred through the department. We know Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett will leave the show after this season, but could more series regulars be on their way out? Meanwhile, Stella and Severide continue their pursuit of expanding their family. Might they have been looking in all the wrong places? These questions will be answered in the upcoming Chicago Fire episodes and beyond, because the show was renewed for Season 14, set to premiere this fall.
