BIG SHOKER! Monica Raymund Opens Up About Returning to Chicago Fire—‘The Door Is Always Open’

Since its premiere in 2012, Chicago Fire has become a key part of NBC’s One Chicago franchise, captivating audiences with its intense drama and emotional storylines. The show, which centers

on the lives and work of the firefighters and paramedics of Firehouse 51, has aired over 200 episodes and shows no signs of slowing down. Throughout its impressive run, Chicago Fire

has seen a number of cast changes, including the departures of beloved characters like Steven R. McQueen and Lauren German. However, one exit that left a lasting impact on fans was

that of Monica Raymund, who portrayed Gabby Dawson for six seasons before her departure.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Raymund opened up about the possibility of returning to Chicago Fire, sharing that while she left the show years ago, she would be open to coming back. This revelation comes in light of her co-star Jesse Spencer’s recent exit from the series, where his character, Matt Casey, bid farewell after nearly a decade. Spencer’s departure was marked by a hopeful note, with him leaving for three years but leaving open the possibility of a return, much like the potential for Dawson’s comeback.

Raymund revealed that she and Spencer had discussed their characters’ exits and the future of the series, expressing her affection for the show and her willingness to return. “I love Derek, he’s my boy,” Raymund said, referring to Chicago Fire’s executive producer Derek Haas. “I never close the door on Gabriela Dawson. The door is always open. I never say no to an opportunity to tell stories.”

Fans will recall that Raymund made brief appearances in Seasons 7 and 8 of Chicago Fire following her departure, and she was even scheduled to return at the end of Season 9. Unfortunately, due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, those plans had to be postponed. However, her recent comments suggest that her connection with the Chicago Fire team remains strong, and her return might not be far off.

Given her close relationship with the show’s staff and her ongoing love for her character, Raymund’s return seems like a distinct possibility. Whether it’s for a guest appearance or a more substantial storyline, the prospect of seeing Gabby Dawson back in the action at Firehouse 51 has fans eagerly anticipating what’s next for the Chicago Fire universe.
