Keeping Up Appearances: First look at Kerry Howard as a young Hyacinth Bucket

SHE’S the precocious dame who entertained millions of viewers throughout the nineties, and now Keeping up Appearances’s Hyacinth Bucket is making a welcome returned with a new face as the BBC sitcom is back.

Kerry Howard will be filling in for Patricia Routledge, 87, in highly-anticipated prequel, which follows the loveable snob and her humble beginnings – a remarkable contrast to the regal diva she would later grow up to be.

Now, the BBC have released a first-look at Kerry decked out in Hyacinth’s signature style including her trademark silk gloves and grand headpiece.

Set in the 1950s, the standalone episode shows Hyacinth cramped in a cozy cottage with her equally eccentric family, and is forced to work as a maid for her father’s wartime RAF squadron leader.

She’s yet to meet her doting husband Richard, played by Clive Swift in the original series, but is taken with another dashing young gentleman named William.
