Finale Fallout: Why You Won’t See New One Chicago Episodes This Week

Are you wondering why there has been no update regarding the episodes of NBC‘s cherished One Chicago series for the week of May 25–31? Many viewers are perplexed about the timing and details of the series. This confusion has led to questions about whether the show is currently on hiatus. Audiences are also wondering about the primary reasons behind this unexpected programming interruption. There has yet to be an announcement for Chicago PD, Med, or Fire’s new episodes.

Here’s a quick breakdown of why NBC’s hit Wednesday dramas are currently off the air.

Why NBC won’t air any new episode for Chicago PD, Fire & Med on May 28

The reason for no new episodes of Chicago P.D., Fire & Med is that the show is finally over, and all the finales aired on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Now, these One Chicago seasons will exclusively return in the next cycle.

Despite the potential disappointment and disheartening news for viewers, the show’s creators cannot release new episodes on May 28, 2025. The network has already scheduled the finales for all three seasons. They aired on May 21, 2025, making additional episodes invalid. This week, fans may be surprised to find reruns and no new episodes on NBC cable.

The concluding episodes were notably dramatic and filled with suspense, providing a compelling wrap-up to the series. The lack of new episodes may be depressing. However, audiences can still look forward to the return of their beloved shows in the upcoming fall season. NBC has confirmed that Chicago Fire will return for Season 14, Chicago P.D. for Season 13, and Chicago Med for Season 11 in the 2025–2026 television season. The team is currently developing One Chicago and plans to premiere it later this year. (via NBC)

Chicago Fire Season 13’s finale episode, titled “It Had to End This Way,” aired on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 9 P.M. Whereas for Chicago P.D.’s Season 12, its finale titled “Vows” aired on the same day but at 10 P.M. Finally, Chicago Med Season 10’s finale, titled “…Don’t You Cry,” aired at 8 P.M. For all three, their episodes were available the next day on Peacock, i.e., Thursday, May 22, 2025.

In the meantime, viewers can revisit past episodes and catch up on any missed moments by streaming the series by subscribing to NBC and Peacock.
