BREAKING NEWS: “I Want a Family With You”: Stella’s Emotional Proposal Leaves Severide Stunned

This week on Chicago Fire, Stella Kidd’s past resurfaced in an unexpected way when her cousin, Cole, paid a visit. His arrival brought deep emotions to the surface,

giving Stella clarity about her hesitation to start a family with Severide. Initially, Cole assumed Severide was the reason Stella had distanced herself

from her family, but she quickly corrected him. It wasn’t Severide’s influence—it was her own shame over her past. She opened up about her previous marriage,

her ex-husband’s struggles with addiction, and how that chapter in her life made her feel unworthy of reconnecting with loved ones. Upon realizing this, Cole apologized to Severide and took a moment to share more about Stella’s upbringing.

Severide listened intently as Cole reflected on their childhood. After losing both parents at just 12 years old, Stella moved in with Cole and his mother. When her aunt had a second child, she suffered from postpartum depression, and it was Stella who stepped up, taking on responsibilities well beyond her years. Hearing this, Severide gained a deeper understanding of the resilience and strength that had shaped his wife.

Later that evening, Stella confided in Severide, expressing how reconnecting with Cole made her realize just how much time she had lost with her family. She didn’t want to keep letting life slip away. She admitted that her past experiences, particularly with her aunt’s struggles, had influenced her thoughts about motherhood. But instead of uncertainty, she had finally reached a decision.

“I’m not sure that I want to go through pregnancy,” she admitted. “But I do know that I want a family with you, Kelly.” Taking a deep breath, she then presented an alternative—one that had been on her heart. “Have you ever considered adoption? Welcoming a child into our home, just like Aunt Laverne did for me?”

For a moment, Severide was silent, processing her words. Then, with a warm smile, he met her gaze and responded, “I think that sounds… just right.” He sealed the moment with a kiss, affirming their next step as a couple.

For Stella, adoption offers the perfect balance—allowing her to continue her career as a firefighter while also fulfilling her dream of building a family. However, given the similar paths taken by Gabby, Sylvie, and even Cruz, will Stella and Severide’s journey to parenthood unfold smoothly, or will they face unexpected challenges along the way?
