BREAKING NEWS!! Here’s why Casualty isn’t on next week in summer schedule change

Casualty fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next episode, as the medical drama goes on a short break next week.

A busy summer of sport is about to begin, with Wimbledon and the Women’s Euros both commencing next week. The tennis and football coverage means that the schedules for soaps EastEndersEmmerdale and Coronation Street are affected.

Next Saturday (5 July), BBC One and BBC Two are hosting a full day of sporting programming – which will have an impact on Casualty as well.

Casualty won’t air in its regular Saturday night slot next week, and the episode also won’t be released that morning on BBC iPlayer.

But thankfully this disruption will only last a week, as Digital Spy understands that the show will air as usual on Saturday, 12 July.

We are currently three episodes into Casualty’s latest boxset, ‘Supply and Demand’, which revolves around a rise in drug overdoses in Holby and the pressure this puts on the ED.

In this week’s episode (28 June), Ngozi continued to struggle with her relapse and her alcoholism began to affect her work.

After she started drinking during a shift, she made a tragic mistake with a patient and reached breaking point – finally deciding to accept fellow addict Dylan’s help.

Together, the pair told Siobhan about Ngozi’s alcoholism, and the nurse later found the courage to attend an AA meeting in the hospital.

Meanwhile, this week Iain and Teddy embarked on an assessment day with HART (Hazardous Area Response Team), which they would need to pass to go on secondment with the team.

But during the day, Iain received a worrying phone call and found out that his alcoholic mum had been admitted to a hospice.

This news distracted Iain for the rest of the day, and he failed the final test, but he luckily managed to convince team leader Tim to give him a chance.

What will the future hold for Iain and Teddy on their big new adventure?
