The latest episode of Chicago Fire, “Born of Fire,” shifts the spotlight back to the Girls on Fire program, which hasn’t been featured prominently in a while. This time, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo)
introduces a fresh perspective by bringing her husband, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), into the mix. The drama picks up when Firehouse 51 responds to an emergency where a woman is trapped on a zipline.
Using his expertise, Severide successfully rescues her with some skillful maneuvers. The experience sparks an idea in Kidd—she proposes that Severide help design new training drills for the Girls on Fire program
, allowing young women to gain more hands-on experience in firefighting. Severide agrees to participate, further strengthening their partnership both professionally and personally.
In addition to their work on the program, Kidd and Severide continue discussions about their plans for adoption. Kidd shares that she confided in Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) about their decision but reassures Severide that their plans will remain private for now. A lighthearted moment between them reveals that the firefighters at 51 refer to them as “Stellaride,” a nod to the beloved couple’s fan-given nickname.
Carver Struggles with Sobriety
Elsewhere, Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) makes a significant effort to address his drinking problem by attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Despite a tough season, Carver takes a crucial step toward recovery, though his past demons continue to haunt him. His struggle is put to the test when he reconnects with an old friend, Lee (Spencer Treat Clark), who doesn’t seem supportive of Carver’s newfound sobriety.
Violet Confronts Her Past
One of the most gripping storylines of the episode revolves around Violet. Her lawyer boyfriend takes on a case defending a medic accused of negligent homicide, and Violet initially supports clearing his name. However, her stance changes when she realizes the medic in question is Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh).
Lennox, a former colleague from season 12, had been a problematic figure at 51. He frequently disregarded orders and even attempted to have Violet fired. Given his history, Violet is reluctant to help him, believing his reckless actions led to his dismissal in the first place.
A Shocking Convergence
Carver and Violet’s storylines unexpectedly intertwine when Lee, an unapologetic alcoholic, causes trouble. While out with Carver, Lee gets arrested but falsely provides Carver’s identity, leading to a mix-up that results in Kidd bailing out the wrong person. Lee also targets Violet, claiming she isn’t good enough for Carver and even breaking into her apartment. Fortunately, he is stopped before causing harm. After the ordeal, Carver confides in Violet alone, admitting that he is attending AA meetings.
Meanwhile, Violet revisits Lennox’s case and, after a deeper investigation, realizes he is actually innocent. Overcoming her personal biases, she helps clear his name, putting an unexpected end to their tumultuous history.
