“Oh my God” was basically Adele’s reaction to having Lady Gaga at one of her shows.
In a cover story interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, the “Hello” singer, 35, opened up about the anxiety of having the “Bad Romance” musician, 37, attend one of her Weekends with Adele residency concerts, where the superstar sings her classics and banters with the crowd.
“I’ve spent a bit of time with her, but I rate her so hard,” Adele said of Gaga.
It prompted the soulful-pop artist to judge every aspect of her concert.
“I was like, ‘The show’s terrible. It’s rubbish. I’m singing terribly. I’m not funny. My dress is rubbish this week.’ I was judging myself. And she’s not like that. But she made me really, really nervous,” Adele confessed to the outlet.
Of Gaga’s presence she said, “I shat myself the whole show.”
The “Water Under the Bridge” performer said Gaga “came in disguise” — sort of.
“Well, not in disguise, she just wasn’t dressed up. It’s like me, I’ve put sweatpants on [today],” she teased.
Gaga is just one of many celebrities who have attended Adele’s shows, but Adele didn’t recognize all of them — at least initially.
“I remember one of my first shows I did, Shania Twain came. Because she had a hat on, I walked straight past her and didn’t recognize her until afterwards someone sent me a video,” she told the publication.
She continued: “Then I saw her at the Grammys and we were talking about it. I’ve had lots of amazing people there.”
Beyond celebrities, Adele also revealed there’s someone special in her life that has yet to see her residency.
“The only person I want to see it that hasn’t yet is my mum. I’m going to wait — I want her to see it at the end. Because I think she’ll find it really emotional as well,” she said.
In October, Adele announced a final extension of her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace into 2024. While the musician was set to wrap the string of shows in November, she’ll now perform 32 additional dates next year.
The final leg of Weekends With Adele, will kick off in mid-January. Starting Jan. 19, she will perform at the Vegas venue every Friday and Saturday night through the end of March. She’ll resume in May on the 17th after taking a break in April and officially wrap up on June 15.
