One Chicago’s Big Win: Full Cast Returns for Fire, P.D., and Med as NBC Inks New Deals

All One Chicago leads are set to return for their upcoming seasons as their stars sign new deals. On May 6, NBC renewed Chicago Med for season 11, Chicago Fire for season 14, and Chicago P.D. for season 13. All three shows continued to perform well on NBC and on Peacock during the 2024-2025 network television season. In January, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. also had the first One Chicago crossover event since prior to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019.

According to Deadline, all three One Chicago shows will have their leads returning in the fall. This includes Chicago Fire’s Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Dermot Mulroney, Chicago P.D.’s Jason Beghe, and Chicago Med‘s S. Epatha Merkerson and Oliver Platt. While some of the stars had long-term contracts that recently expired, and others, like Mulroney, were coming off of a one-year deal, all are now set to officially continue in their respective series. The upcoming seasons of each show will reportedly feature 21 episodes.

What This Means For One Chicago

The Upcoming Seasons Will Feel Like A Natural & Satisfying Continuation

Miranda Rae Mayo as Stella Kidd and Taylor Kinney as Kelly Severide in Chicago Fire

From Kelly Severide (Kinney) to Dr. Daniel Charles (Platt), One Chicago’s best characters are one of the main reasons why the network TV franchise’s popularity continues to be strong. Given how deeply invested the fans are in these characters, it would have been disappointing for some or all of the leads to be absent from the upcoming seasons. Thanks to the new deals that have been signed, this does not need to be a concern, as the fan-favorite and long-running characters will continue to be the faces of their respective shows.

All three shows can benefit from continuing the unresolved storylines at the ends of their most recent seasons instead of having to start over with a new cast. While part of the cast will always change in a procedural series, especially ones that go on as long as the One Chicago shows, it is important to have consistency as well. The chances of another One Chicago crossover happening are also more likely given the return of each show’s series regulars, all of whom have strong histories and now a strong future with the franchise.

Our Take On All One Chicago Leads Returning

The Future Continues To Be Bright For One Chicago

All the One Chicago leads returning is not too surprising, but it is still welcome news. Chicago Fire without Severide or Stella Kidd (Mayo), Chicago P.D. without Hank Voight (Beghe), and Chicago Med without Sharon Goodwin (Merkerson) or Dr. Charles would not be the same. Their ongoing presence should help One Chicago continue to be a top-tier performer for NBC during the 2025-2026 television season.
