Chicago Fire boss confirms return of key character: ‘We’ll see him in Season 14, for sure’

“Chicago Fire” showrunner Andrea Newman has confirmed that Chief Dom Pascal, played by Dermot Mulroney, will definitely return for Season 14.

Pascal’s future at Firehouse 51 had been a point of speculation, especially with Chief Boden’s departure and Christopher Herrmann’s journey through the ranks. However, the Season 13 finale saw a shift, with Herrmann ultimately deciding to step back from pursuing a Chief position to allow Mouch to become acting lieutenant, thereby keeping Pascal as the Chief of Firehouse 51.

Newman clarified to TV Insider that Pascal’s decision to stay was heavily influenced by the support he received from the Firehouse 51 crew, particularly during his wife Monica’s funeral. She highlighted a key moment where Mouch’s reassurance that the entire firehouse was “family” deeply resonated with Pascal, making him feel a true part of the team.

This confirmation comes amidst other cast changes, with Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) not returning as series regulars for Season 14. However, the stability provided by Chief Pascal’s continued presence at Firehouse 51 will be a welcome development for many fans.
