Shocking Update: Chicago Fire is going to bring back this beloved storyline from season 8

Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) had a slow start to Chicago Fire season 13, taking a backseat to her colleagues while also dealing

with the unpredictable schedule of her husband, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). Despite being a key member of Firehouse 51,

it felt like she wasn’t as central to the action as she had been in previous seasons. However, the latter half of the season has made up

for this. Kidd took center stage during the One Chicago crossover event and played a significant role in the aftermath episode, “Relief Cut.” Fortunately, her momentum isn’t slowing down, as she will continue to be a major focus when Chicago Fire returns on February 19.

Girls on Fire is Making a Comeback

The upcoming episode, “Born of Fire,” is set to bring back a fan-favorite storyline from season 8. Kidd will team up with Severide to organize a series of rope training drills for new firefighters. But the real highlight is the return of the Girls on Fire program, a project that Kidd launched years ago to inspire young women to pursue firefighting careers.

Kidd’s dedication to Girls on Fire was one of her most impactful storylines, and it even led to the introduction of Kylie Estevez (Katelynn Shennett), who has become an essential part of Firehouse 51, even if her appearances are occasional. Fans may recall that Kylie recently assisted Herrmann (David Eigenberg) with a fire extinguisher-related case.

Will Girls on Fire Strengthen or Strain Kidd and Severide’s Relationship?

While the revival of Girls on Fire is exciting, it also brings up memories of the challenges Kidd and Severide faced in the past. During the original storyline, Kidd’s travels for the program put a strain on their relationship, leading to serious conversations about their future.

Now, with the couple in a much better place—especially after deciding to adopt and start a family—this storyline could take one of two directions. It could either create new tensions, forcing them to navigate relationship struggles again, or it could showcase their growth, proving that they have learned from past mistakes and are stronger than ever.

Many fans are hoping for the latter. After everything they’ve been through—including Kidd’s near-death experience during the One Chicago crossover—it would be refreshing to see them succeed as both firefighters and future parents without unnecessary drama. But given the nature of Chicago Fire, there’s bound to be some unexpected twists ahead.
