BREAKING NEWS: Kara Killmer Bids Farewell to Chicago Fire: What’s Next for the Star?

Sylvie Brett has officially bid farewell to Chicago Fire after an incredible nine-year journey. Her character, who had become a fan favorite,

left to start a new chapter in Oregon with her husband, Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer). It marks an emotional departure for both fans and actress Kara Killmer,

but as Killmer reflects on her time with the show, it’s clear that it was time for her to embrace new opportunities.

Why Kara Killmer Left Sylvie Brett Behind After nearly a decade portraying Sylvie Brett, Killmer felt that she had explored all aspects of the character. Reflecting on her time with Chicago Fire, she shared that it was the right moment to take on new creative challenges. She expressed a desire to explore different roles and styles of work:

“I’ll be excited to try something that’s totally new. Hopefully, the next thing, the next few things, that I get to work on will be a little bit of a different flavor.”

Killmer also revealed that she had begun auditioning for new projects before filming her final scenes. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity Chicago Fire gave her to grow as an actress, crediting Dick Wolf Productions for helping her refine her skills. While she acknowledged that her next project might not match the widespread success of Chicago Fire, Killmer is eager to explore different creative avenues and step into roles that offer fresh experiences.

Killmer’s Recent Work Outside One Chicago While Killmer has been primarily associated with Chicago Fire, she has taken on a few projects outside of the One Chicago franchise. Her most recent work outside the series included the 2018 TV movie Sleeper (also known as My Husband’s Secret Life). Additionally, in 2015, she starred in the historical drama Beyond the Mask, where she shared the screen with John Rhys-Davies.

In 2019, Killmer appeared in the short film The Follower, but since then, her focus has largely been on her role as Brett.

What’s Next for Kara Killmer? Now that her time on Chicago Fire has concluded, Killmer is diving into auditions for various roles in both television and film. She is eager to take on projects that present new challenges and offer a different experience from what fans saw on Chicago Fire. However, Killmer has left the door open for a possible return to the show, telling The Hollywood Reporter:

“The door is wide open for me! I’m more than happy to show up anytime.”

Whether as a cameo appearance reprising her role as Brett or in a completely different character, fans may not have to say goodbye to Killmer for good. She’s open to returning in a new capacity, showcasing her range as an actress.

Killmer’s decision to step away from the comfort of Chicago Fire and seek fresh creative opportunities demonstrates her passion for acting and her ambition to evolve as an artist. As she embarks on this exciting new phase of her career, fans can eagerly anticipate seeing her in different roles that highlight her versatility and talent.
