Chicago Fire, Med, and PD pulled from Wednesday lineup in unexpected …

Attention, One Chicago fans: there’s some unexpected news on the horizon. NBC has announced that new episodes

of Chicago FireChicago Med, and Chicago PD, originally scheduled for airing this Wednesday night, January 15,

will be preempted due to President Joe Biden’s farewell address.

The President’s speech is slated to take place at the beginning of the primetime schedule at 8 p.m. ET and will run until approximately 8:15 p.m. Following the address, NBC will transition to reruns, airing the third episode of Chicago Med from the current season titled “Trust Fall.”

As the night progresses, viewers can expect additional reruns: at 9 p.m., Chicago Fire will take the stage, followed by a rerun of Chicago PD at 10 p.m. Both shows will feature the third episodes of their current seasons.

This preemption means that Chicago FireChicago Med, and Chicago PD fans will have to wait a little longer for new content. The good news, however, is that the shows are set to return with fresh episodes on January 22, as confirmed through the official One Chicago Twitter account.

Fans can also breathe a sigh of relief knowing that this scheduling change will not affect the planned One Chicago crossover event, which is still on track to air on January 29 as previously announced. It appears that NBC may have been considering reruns for the January 22 date anyway, indicating that a break was always in the cards for this month — it simply arrived earlier than anticipated due to the preemptions for the President’s address.
